Three mechanisms were applied to ensure that the monitoring and evaluation activities were conducted in a participatory way.
1. Outcome mapping
Local teams used an Outcome Journal (see the Outcome Mapping methodology ) to monitor changes in behavior and relationships between members of the organizations |

that could be traced to the project. Farmers identified outcomes (attitude changes, expected behavior within the ideal vision of the project) and progress markers to monitor advances. Evaluation was conducted in local teams, including both male and female farmers, at the beginning and end of the process.

2. Impacts and lessons learned from the local processes
At the end of the project, members of local teams evaluated the processes, their lessons and impacts (positive, negative, planned and unplanned), and the methodology used for a) capacity building, b) knowledge management, c) methodological and scientific contributions, among other.
3. Project findings and results
Case studies and documents containing analysis or elaborated in a participatory way were reviewed and commented by local teams in an e-forum. The result of the discussions was uploaded to this website.
